Happy Father’s Day to all the Studs out there!

A couple weeks ago we discussed the importance of supporting mares through their pregnancy and foaling by using Soft-Ride boots to decrease the hoof strain of the extra weight they carry, but what about the dads? For many breeding facilities, especially ones that require live coverage, this can mean a lot of miles on the road, and sometimes airplanes, for studs.

Utilizing Soft-Ride Comfort Boots during travel helps:

  • Minimize vibrations and jarring from the road
  • Mitigate heat transfer from hot asphalt
  • Combat standing containment fatigue
  • Protect hoofs and soles from debris and foreign objects on the ground.

Travel is a tiring experience for everyone, horses and humans alike, so make sure all your favorite equine dads are as safe and comfortable as possible this Father's Day.

Learn About Soft-Ride Boots

Coolmore Studs - Ireland to Australia and Back Again

World-renowned champion sire, Galileo, preparing for a flight from Ireland to Australia in his Soft-Ride Boots.
“We used Soft-Ride boots on our stallions when traveling with them from Ireland to Australia and Ireland to New Zealand. I found the boots to be very effective on the stallions for their truck ride to and from the airports, and while they were flying.

This trip took about 38 hours and the boots remained soundly on the stallions’ feet. The construction of the Soft-Ride boots fitted the stallions’ hooves very well. The removable gel pads and the slight rolled toe on the gripped base of the boot worked great. There was no need to fix or readjust the boots, just put them on in Ireland, load the stallions on the plane, and take them off when safely in Australia, no fuss.

In my opinion the stallions wore the boots very well; they were comfortable in them and seemed to travel better and quieter in them. I recommend them to be fitted to all our stallions for future travel by road and by air.”

Keeping it in the Family: Summer Break

Roger and Betty Ruetenik, parents to Soft-Ride’s founders and current owners, out for a ride, circa 1950
Soft-Ride has worked over the last two decades to be a global presence, shipping internationally to over 50 countries, being stocked in over 6,000 veterinary clinics, and in use in every veterinary teaching hospital in the US, Canada, Europe, and Australia.

But, at our heart, we’re a small family business. Our operation is very close-knit, employing just a handful of people across the US. Many of us are direct family members, or staff we care about like family. We have always made the quality of life among our employees a top priority. That means we make a point of having two one-week vacations a year, one in the summer and one in the winter, so our staff can take the time to focus on their families. Our summer holiday will begin on June 29th this year and we will reopen for shipping and customer service on July 10th. Our website ordering system will continue to operate normally during that time and any order placed will leave our facility when we reopen. We appreciate all our loyal customers giving us this time to focus on our human and equine family, and who knows, maybe when we’re all together this break we’ll brainstorm the next amazing Soft-Ride product to help keep your equine family safe and comfortable!
