We recommend these guidelines when measuring your horse and using Soft Ride boots:
Place the hoof squarely on a sturdy piece of paper or cardboard (such as a manila folder).
It's important to keep your horses hooves trimmed. This will help ensure continued proper fitment and help prevent damage to the boot.
Measure each hoof to check for discrepancies in hoof size. You may find it necessary to order a different size boot for each foot.
Hold the gel orthotic up to the bottom of the hoof. The gel should overlap the hoof by up to a quarter inch on all sides. This allows for some growth before the hoof is trimmed again. If the foot overlaps the Gel Orthotic in length or width, then the boot is too small.

*The sizing chart measurements are the maximum recommended hoof dimensions of a freshly trimmed hoof. These measurements do not reflect the gel orthotic dimensions as the gel orthotic is sized to allow the length changes which happen in the hoof over a full, normal growth cycle of 5-8 weeks.
*The length of the hoof should be measured to the end of the ground contact or the shoe. Please ensure the elevated heel and bulb are not included in the length measurement or the sizing will be skewed to be much larger than needed.
*Narrow sizing is done by adding side clips to the gel orthotic. Narrow gel orthotics fit into the standard boot of the correlating size. IE: a 6 long narrow gel orthotic will fit into a 6 long boot. Therefore the outer boot will not reflect the narrow size.
